ABOUT ME

I'm Jenny and I live in Dawlish, Devon with my husband and three children. Since having my first baby in 2016, I've been fascinated by all things breastfeeding. I was fortunate to find a local breastfeeding group quite soon after she was born where I was supported to reach my breastfeeding goals. I'll always be grateful for that support and thankful that it encouraged me to train to support other parents on their breastfeeding journey.

I first trained as a Peer Supporter and then as a Breastfeeding Counsellor with the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM), before making the leap to qualify as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Qualifying as an IBCLC, involves completing multiple health science courses; over 90 hours of lactation specific education; over 1,000 hours of breastfeeding support and passing an international exam. IBCLCs also have to complete ongoing training to ensure that they are up-to-date with recent developments in the field of lactation.

As an IBCLC and Breastfeeding Counsellor, I'm trained to listen to you, share evidence-based information and work alongside you to overcome any challenges that you are facing. These challenges may be common challenges around establishing breastfeeding, cluster feeding, starting solids, weaning or more complex challenges around low milk supply, slow weight gain, breast refusal or breastfeeding a premature baby. I also have a particular interest in breastfeeding while pregnant and tandem feeding from my personal experience breastfeeding my own  children.

Alongside my IBCLC work, I continue to volunteer as a Breastfeeding Counsellor answering calls and webchats on the National Breastfeeding Helpline and at my local breastfeeding support group in Dawlish.
